Leawood author John Brown's first book has something readers don not often expect from fiction - a local history lesson.
The book "A Wind of Many Colors" features the Alexander Majors Shipping Company, the "bogus" government set up by the Missouri slave owners, and territory divorces.
The novel is the only book ever to be sold and endorsed by the JCPR Administration of Historic Oxford Schoolhouse in Leawood. "Learning history is a by product of reading the book", Brown said...

John Brown will participate in the Henry County Library's Local Author Fair on Saturday September 8th 2-4 pm in the library gallery.
Brown graduated Bethlehem grade school in 1949 and Clinton High School in 1953 and University of Missouri - Columbia in 1957.
